Energy Theatre

Energy Theatre workshops are open to everyone aged 16 and over. No previous experience is required.

Although Energy Theatre training has huge benefits for professional performers - the Energy Theatre workshops are available to ANYONE interested in increasing their self awareness through bodywork and physical exercises and exploring different ways of artistic and creative expression.

The unique combination of physical theatre exercises and the body psychotherapeutic techniques help the participants to develop self-consciousness and body awareness through acting and creativity.

The length and depth of sessions can be tailored to meet the needs of those taking part. Depi Mavropoulou can run a day-long introductory workshop, or seminars which run over a few days or weeks.

Body Awareness and Creativity

This workshop is a useful foundation step before beginning any type of creative work.
Depi has seen the benefits in how bodywork opens up the potential for creativity by unleashing the full possibilities of fantasy and imagination.
Combining body psychotherapeutic exercises and different areas of creativity we can increase our knowledge about ourselves and our creative potential.
Working through a series of physical exercises – breathing, movement, and body awareness – we explore a wide range of creative expression.
The aim is to learn more about our potential to act, dance, sing, draw, paint and write and expand the horizon of creativity.
This workshop will also find new ways in which participants can use their emotions, thoughts and senses to enrich any creative activity.
For professionals and amateurs.

Transforming Blockages into a Key for Creativity

This practical workshop focuses on one key area of Energy Theatre in isolation – looking at how thoughts, habits and beliefs can become a barrier for the artist.
It teaches techniques that can transform these negative issues of barriers and blockages and make them into positive tools for creativity.
It can be offered as a one-off introductory session, with the option to offer a series of follow-up sessions to explore issues in more depth.
Body tension, frustrations and unresolved issues can be built positively into our artistic process.
The aim of the workshop is to help participants understand, accept and be aware of these sides of our nature and how they keep talent blocked and without expression. Anything can be a creative material for the artist – even blockages once we learn how to unlock them.
One-to-one sessions can be offered where an individual needs more specific support to work through a particular issue.

For professionals and amateurs.

Flirting the Camera

This workshop specifically aims to prepare performers for film work.
It will be useful to actors, drama students and anyone who wants to be able to present themselves as they wish to be seen by the ‘eye of the camera’.
Different skills are required to be captured ‘in the moment’ on film and this workshop combines somatic exercises, movement and improvisation techniques from physical theatre with body awareness training.
Participants will learn how to prepare their bodies and their minds to be focused, relaxed and grounded in front of the camera.
